Ian Rogerson’s first book on Barnett Freedman for the Fleece Press was, astonishingly, the first since Barnett’s death in early 1958. It covered his graphic work, and sold out on publication. Since that time a good deal of material has been discovered which must be shared with those who love Barnett’s work, and this is the book to do that.
This Barnett Freedman Picture Album art book contains wonderful ephemeral items, photographs of his posters on hoardings and on display in Lyons Corner Houses, paintings in public ownership, student work from the early 1920s when at the third attempt he gained a scholarship to the Royal College of Art, shown along with a number of the very best images illustrated in the previous title.
Beautifully produced and bound by the Fleece Press is a limited edition print run of 250 copies.
The cover is a repeat pattern taken from a short strip of decoration originally produced as an intended border for a 1937 Imperial Airways Poster.

Artists Biography
Barnett Freedman was born in London to a poor Jewish family which had recently emigrated from Russia. He studied part-time at St.Martin's School of Art and was later encouraged by William Rothenstein to study at the Royal College of Art between 1922-25 where he later returned to teach.
Freedman was an official war artist during World War II and is still to this day considered amongst one of the greatest graphic artists and book illustrators of his time.
